“Duncan Savage shares this 4.4-hectare vineyard in Darling with Donovan Rall, both of whom get the best out of these 44-year-old bush vines close to the Atlantic Ocean. Firmer and more savoury than the sweeter 2024 release, this has layers of pomegranate and Campari spices, sinewy, grippy tannins and a white pepper top note.”
This surfer-turned winemaking maestro established the stellar, Platter’s Wine Guide-wowing reputation of Cape Point Vineyards with his stellar Sauvignons. That was until 2016, when he boldly struck out alone to make the wines he always wanted to. Throughout his time at Cape Point, Duncan grew to understand coastal sites, and has continued to seek out maritime and high elevation sites across the Western Cape. Today his wines are in huge demand.
‘Follow the Line’ is an aromatic and bright expression of Cinsault from 44-year-old dry-farmed vines exposed to the prevailing southeasterly winds of the Atlantic. 50% whole-bunch fermented and aged in a combination of old foudres and amphorae, it has aromas of wild strawberry, rose petal and violet.
