2008 Chateau Musar, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon

£64.00

One third each of Cabernet, Cinsault and Carignan, aged for a year in French Nevers oak barrels.
“Bright crimson. Heady and beguiling with a gamey note on the nose. Very sweet and young and well balanced on the palate. No hurry at all to drink this youthful ferment. Very tight, dry wine that is so much younger than any other vintage tasted. SO much more youthful than a bordeaux 2008!”

17.5+++/20 Jancis Robinson MW (tasted Feb 2018)

Please be aware this wine is 15+ years old and as such some labels may have slight discolouration, the wine however is delicious!

Product Description

In 1930, at just 20 years old, Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar, inspired by Lebanon’s 6,000-year winemaking tradition and his travels in Bordeaux. The wines of Chateau Musar are a unique expressions from the high altitude Bekaa Valley.

An alluring nose of black fruits, red cherries, coffee, and leather. The palate is complex with integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity. 2008 is a concentrated vintage expressing an abundance of fruit in the finish. Definitely a special vintage to taste!
