2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘La Romanee’ Maison Louis Jadot
£120.00
“The Jadot whites often take a while to settle down in bottle, made as they are with assertive wood and little or no malolactic. But this has the power, concentration and focus to age well in bottle, with toasty complexity, layers of spice and citrus and a long, tapering finish.”
Located in the Southern part of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne Montrachet is one of the 5 villages belonging to the prestigious « Côte des Blancs ». East and South-East oriented, the soil of the Premiers Crus from Chassagne is mainly made of clay and chalk.
La Romanée is located in the southern part of the village, next to Les Grandes Ruchottes and not far from « Morgeot», in the higher part of the vineyards on a clayish soil. Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases in order not to damage the fruits. Grapes are pressed softly, they ferment in oak barrels produced by our cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lies before bottling.
