2015 Château Malartic-Lagravière Rouge Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

£56.00

“Deeper wine from the get-go with dark violets, mocha, cassis and blackberries. The palate has suave, smooth and sturdy tannins and terrific length. Very polished and seamless with flavors of fresh black cherries, blackcurrants and blue plums. Best from 2022.”

96 Points, James Suckling

Product Description

Château Malartic-Lagravière is one of only six properties to be classified in both red and white wines in the 1953 Graves classification  both of which have deservedly excellent reputations  and of the estate’s 47 hectares, only 7 are dedicated to white grape varieties. The vineyards date back to the 18th century and the estate saw many changes of hands over the years, most notably when it was bought by champagne house Laurent Perrier in 1990. Its reputation was secured by 1959 when it was one of only six properties to enter the Graves classification for both red and white wines, however its quality renaissance properly began in 1997 when it was bought from Laurent Perrier by Michèle and Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, Belgian business owners who set about restoring the estate. Today, their son and daughter-in-law Jean-Jacques and Severine have assumed control.

Malartic’s red wines have a dense, juicy attack, a velvety, silky mouthfeel and superb balance, giving full expression to a long, enveloping tannic structure. The rich, complex aromatic palette develops while at the same time offering a sensation of exceptional freshness. Distinguished tannins provide an elegant structure.
