2015 Gigondas `Le Lieu Dit` Domaine des Bosquets

£45.00

“More finesse-oriented than the blockbuster style La Colline release, the 2015 Gigondas le Lieu Dit is another Grenache-dominated wine that comes from a cooler, late parcel of sandy soils located just beside the estate. Notes of strawberries, raspberries, crushed flowers, kirsch and spice all emerge from this full-bodied, utterly seamless, pure and gorgeously balanced beauty that doesn’t have a hard edge to be found. It will drink well for 10-15 years or more.”

95-97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

“Intense raspberry and boysenberry fruit unwinds slowly here, with light bergamot, black tea and violet notes skittering throughout. The structure is ample but very fine-grained, and there’s lilting perfume lingering on the mineral-edged finish. Best from 2019 through 2030.”

95 Points, Wine Spectator

Product Description

Domaine des Bosquets has deep historical roots in Gigondas. It was first mentioned as a vineyard site in 1376. Bosquets means “a wooded grove,” which is an apt name since many of the vineyards high up in the Dentelles are isolated and surrounded by forest.

Le Lieu Dit is a parcel of old-vine Grenache planted on sand with north and northwestern exposure. At 210 meters in elevation this site is late-ripening and low-yielding, averaging only 16hl/ha. It is fermented with 30% whole clusters and by natural yeasts and is aged in only neutral 600L French oak demi-muids.
