2018 Alain Jaume Domaine Grand Veneur Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes

£39.50

“Up with the crème de la crème of the vintage, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a bigger, richer wine than the Les Origines cuvée and has a beautiful core of smoked black fruits, candied violets, peppery garrigue, and scorched earth-like aromas and flavors. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it’s flawlessly balanced and has terrific tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and a great finish. It certainly shows the more front end-loaded, fleshy, mildly concentrated style of the 2018 vintage, yet the balance is top-notch, and it’s just a thrill to drink today.”

Product Description

From the producer:

The history of the Alain Jaume family dates back to 1826, when we settled north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and began cultivating vines. Inspired by the richness of the Rhône Valley terroir, we devoted ourselves to viticulture with passion and perseverance.

Generation after generation, our family-owned winery has preserved this expertise to craft wines that embody the authenticity and diversity of the Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations.

Wines bearing the Alain Jaume label reflect not only our pursuit of excellence but also a deep family commitment to quality. Today, the Alain Jaume family proudly carries this legacy forward, ensuring that each bottle captures the essence of the terroir and the passion of generations past.

Domaine de Grand Veneur” was created in 1979 by Odile and Alain JAUME, who have carried on the family winemaking tradition. Located in Orange, the original 9-hectare estate has grown over the years to produce wines and cuvées certified AOP Châteauneuf-du-Pape and AOP Côtes du Rhône.

From the Northern sector of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. The “Vieilles Vignes” cuvée brings together the Domaine’s oldest plots. Over time, and thanks to organic viticulture, the roots have grown deep into the soil. Yields are naturally low, and the grapes are incredibly concentrated.
