2018 Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme Haut-Medoc

£18.00

“Juicy and layered black fruits here, this is excellent, with real sense of drive forward through the palate and well expressed tannins that have texture and sap running through them. Easy to recommend, and good value”

93 Points, Jane Anson, Decanter

“Fresh blackcurrant and blackberry leaf on the nose. Tobacco, violets and mocha, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Nicely structured with a deliciously fragrant, leafy quality. Extremely well done. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot and 5% petit verdot.”

93 Points, James Suckling

Product Description

Recently acquired by  Bernard Magrez who owns Chateau Pape Clement as well as several other vineyards showing just how underrated this property has been, at the time this wine was produced Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme was in the hand of the Nony family. Planted 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme is designated Haut-Medoc but the vines start just 100m away from the border of St Julien. With soils of limestone and patches of gravel the terroir is ideal. A much better wine than the price tag suggests Chateau Caronne Ste Gemme is a Bordeaux bargain.
