“Decero didn’t have any cabernet franc in its 165-hectare vineyard until they grafted some onto syrah in 2014. The first production was in 2016, and the expression of the variety is very clear in this new vintage, especially in terms of its herbal aromas, which are deliciously mixed with the aromas and flavors of red fruits. The palate is more fibrous and perhaps thinner than the house’s other reds, but it’s also fresher and juicier.”

Born of the world-class vision of Swiss owner Thomas Schmidheiny, Finca Decero is an acclaimed wine estate and the location of our one-of-a-kind Remolinos vineyard in Agrelo, Mendoza.
In 2000, the decision was taken to start “from scratch” (as Decero means). Unencumbered by history, starting with a blank canvas we were able to make critical early decisions which determined our path towards establishing an exceptional wine estate.
The fine expression of each of the Decero Mini Ediciones wines is a result of a multitude of decisions made with constant consideration of our environment.
The potential of Bordeaux varieties in Agrelo having been established, we specifically chose clones from Bordeaux (Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) and from South Western France (Tannat).
These vines were planted on the lowest vigour soils of our Remolinos Vineyard. They are drip irrigated with glacial melt water from the Andes, cluster thinned to 1-2 clusters per shoot and undergo leaf plucking during the summer to optimise the intensity, ripeness and balance of the final clusters. Each vine’s final yield is less than a bottle of wine. All the grapes undergo cluster and berry selection before constant tasting and selection during maturation.
Decero Mini Ediciones Cabernet Franc is true to the variety with graphite and plum notes held together in a velvety, medium body. The wine is superbly structured and has great potential for ageing.
