2019 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape

£38.00

“Enchanting and complex nose of red fruit, tobacco leaf, licorice and delicate spices. Super-sensual palate that’s rich and refined, with so many nuances that you could spend hours studying it. Stunning interplay of ripe fruit with raw-meat and smoked-bacon character. Very long, silky finish that makes it hard not to take another gulp. Sustainable.”

95 Points, James Suckling

Product Description

Henri Plantin (1890 – 1966) acted as a precursor. In 1923, long before the creation of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s Appellation in 1936, he acquired this property isolated from the village and surrounded by woods. A visionary, he sets out to group the different plots around the estate and anticipated the exceptional nature of the terroir on the plateau overlooking Mont-Redon, which was then covered with scrubland and groves. A pioneer, he decided to clear this unexploited land and plant vines in the rolled pebbles.

Château Mont-Redon is located in the Northwestern of Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate has the privilege of possessing the three emblematic terroirs of the appellation: mainly the pebbles of the plateau, then the safres (compact sand) and the urgonian limestones. These three very complementary terroirs are the keystone of the complexity and quality of our wines.
