“Readers, I fell in love. It’s a wine that tastes poignant; a pool of bruises and salty tears in the cupped palm of a hand. Crushed raspberries, violet petals, old iron, rusting smudges of corners, rain on cracked red bricks, the scent of mushrooms growing under terracotta roof tiles. The scent of rain. The tannins are slow rain down dusty window panes. The finish is like standing under a rusting gutter in the first storm of autumn as the rain pours its soul into a dusty, thirsty earth.”
Alberto Orte is a force to be reckoned with, producing truly compelling and ambitious wines that have firmly established him as one of the most talented up and comers of the next generation of Spanish winemakers. In addition to co-founding Olé & Obrigado, Alberto has also dedicated a huge portion of his life to discovering great terroirs, resurrecting ancient clones, and replanting nearly extinct grape varieties that would otherwise be lost to modernity. Alberto produces wine in many regions throughout the Iberian Peninsula, most notably in Jerez, Valdeorras and Rioja.
