“The 2019 Saint Joseph Cuvée Revirand is all Syrah that was not destemmed and saw malolactic fermentation in barrel followed by 18 months in French oak. Just a thrilling Saint Joseph that pretty much stopped me in my tracks, it has ample red and black fruits, notes of leather, woodsmoke, iron, and pepper, full-bodied richness, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it showed more structure and depth with air. It can certainly be drunk today, but it will ideally be given 2-3 years in the cellar, and I’d be shocked if it didn’t evolve gracefully for another decade or more.”

Product Description
Sylvain Gauthier chose to stay in Ardèche after finishing his studies. He thus created a network of winegrowers before launching his business in 2007 after having acquired some rented vines. For several years, he carried out real planting work (clearing, digging, etc.) while continuing to develop the estate by acquiring land. Today, Sylvain Gauthier owns more than 10 hectares of vines, 2/3 of which are on hillsides and located within a 15-kilometer radius of the winery.
In the commune of Sarras, the most northerly, the vines on the south-facing hillsides. A granite terroir offering a red Saint-Joseph with depth and beautiful maturity. Further south, in Saint-Jean de Muzols in the historic cradle of the Saint-Joseph appellation, with a different profile and more refined wines. Finally, Sylvain Gauthier takes us up a little altitude to the commune of Sécheras to reveal his local wines imbued with the freshness of the Ardèche plateaus.
