“”Supple and engaging, with steeped cherry and cassis melded with ganache and woodsy savory bass notes. Grilled orange peeledged acidity brings good energy to the warm, ripe profile, while a refreshing menthol note marks the nicely melded close. Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah.”
92 Points, Wine Spectator
“Deep crimson in colour with purple reflections and a broad and bright ochre rim. On the nose, inviting aromas of ripe cherry, red forest berry confit and candied orange zest. The palate has medium complexity, with ripe tannins, sweet red berry fruit and a fresh minerality on the finish with nougat on the aftertaste. Versatile.”

Product Description
Since the 17th century, Château Fortia has passed down its traditions and know-how to make renowned wines within one of the world’s most famous appellations.
Château Fortia is located at the heart of the most famous appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The history of the village and its wines is closely linked to that of the Avignon Papacy which considerably contributed to their reputation and commercialisation.
Regularly swept by the winds of the mistral and enjoying a warm and dry climate, the vines grown on the appellation give rise to powerful, tannic and concentrated wines.
The terroir of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation is unique and has three main characteristics: Cretaceous era limestone soils, Tertiary era sandy soils and sandstones as well as terraces made up of quartzite pebbles. The blend of these components is at the root of our soils’ diversity which, when combined with the 13 grape varieties authorised, makes it possible to produce a broad array of wines within a same appellation.
The ‘Tradition’ blend is dominated by Grenache has remained practically unchanged since its creation and it boasts all the treasures and mythical taste of a great Châteauneuf-du-pape wine. Conceived, cherished and produced by our founding father, Baron le Roy de Boiseaumarié, it delights the lovers of our appellation.
Harvested entirely by hand with sorting on the plot, the bunches are delicately picked and then transported in crates in order to ensure the perfect condition of all the grapes and to avoid any oxidation.
Destemmed to the tune of 90%, the grapes are then transferred to concrete or stainless steel vats. Fermentation and 4 to 5 weeks of maceration make it possible to extract all the colour and aromas from the grapes. Cask-ageing of between 18 to 24 months allows the wine to gently flourish. It is then bottled and left to rest in our ageing cellars.
