2020 Domaine Labruyere Moulin-à-Vent Champ de Cour

£29.50

“Labruyere’s Champ de Cour is distinguished by pebbles under a thick layer of dense clay, over granitic rock. 33% whole-bunch, fermented in a single concrete vat. 95% of the blend was matured in demi-muids, together with one new oak barrel. More restrained than Le Carquelin. Really enjoy this style – less showy and will certainly appeal to wine aficionados. Spicy, peppery notes to finish. Plenty of fresh acidity here keeps everything in great balance.”

Product Description

The Labruyère family’s wine-growing home since the 19th century, rooted in one of the richest terroirs of Beaujolais, Domaine Labruyère is among the oldest in the prestigious “Moulin-à-vent” appellation.

Managed with a master’s touch for seven generations, today it is Édouard Labruyère, a discreet winemaker and native son, who works to continue this quest for excellence, perpetuating the traditional know-how.

The illustrious “Le Clos du Moulin-à-Vent” vineyard, the sole monopole of the AOC and AOP appellations, is the jewel of the Labruyère estate. Adjoining the historic windmill, emblem of the appellation in the hamlet of Les Thorins, this vineyard, rich in history and terroir, produces one of the most renowned red wines of Beaujolais.

Straddling the Rhône department in the commune of Chénas and the Saône-et-Loire, alongside the village of Romanèche-Thorins, the Domaine Labruyère enjoys, without a doubt, one of the finest appellations in this region.

Committed to leaving healthier land for future generations, this vineyard is meticulously managed by Édouard Labruyère and the team of Michel Rovere, head of viticulture, according to organic farming principles. Domaine Labruyère has been in conversion since 2020.

Harvested by hand, meticulously sorted, and vinified with great skill by renowned oenologist Nadine Gublin, Gamay Noir is the sole grape variety of Domaine Labruyère. The unique character of each plot on the estate gives rise to wines of great aromatic complexity and remarkable finesse. Possessing excellent aging potential, each vintage develops aromas of black fruit, spices, precious woods, and white flowers over the years.

A triumphant synergy forging ascendant wines capable of competing with the great red wines of Burgundy.
