“Floral aromatics imbued with elegance, this wine comes from Clow Ridge and Valenti Vineyards, a sort of cross-section of ridgeline vineyards in the Anderson Valley. Clow Ridge sits on the valley’s eastern side, and Valenti is high in the evergreen forest of the west ridge. Bright lavender, rose petals and sweet cherry aromatics. There’s an elegance and silken character to this very pretty Pinot Noir. The palate shows beautiful wild mountain fruits, a clean mineral streak cut across the palate, and piquant blood orange and fresh mint notes. There’s a saline streak of smoky sea salt and savoury herbs with 20% whole cluster inclusion in this vintage. Winemaker Scott Drew finds he’s using less whole cluster as the vineyards age, and the skin tannin is coming along in the older vines.”

Product Description
From the producer:
Jason and Molly Drew started Drew in 2000 with a clear pursuit in mind: to craft small lot, cool climate wines that express site distinction and traditional varietal character. Their moment came when they found an old 26-acre apple orchard perched a mere 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean at 1200ft elevation within the Mendocino Ridge AVA. While others saw a daunting project in this old forgotten orchard, Jason and Molly saw ancient oceanic soils, south-facing slopes at 1200 ft elevation, just above the fogline, and a true maritime climate.
While the Drew Estate vineyard holds primacy regarding their wines, they also hold several Anderson Valley and Mendocino Ridge sites in high esteem. Single vineyard sources are chosen for their climate, clonal selection and complexity of soil type as well as a commitment to meticulous and sustainable farming practices. Winemaking practices remain focused on traditional methods that include whole cluster and native yeast fermentations, hand punch-downs, and in most instances, no fining or filtering
The ten-acre estate vineyard was planted to California heritage and suitcase selections and several Dijon clones of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, a half acre of Chenin Blanc, an acre of Gamay, and two-thirds of an acre of Syrah (four clones) were added later, along with a small truffle orchard to accompany the remaining 10-acre apple orchard. The Drew Estate Farm is certified organic and regenerative in practices. Molly and Jason have called this coastal farm their home for the past 21 years.
The Fog-Eater is our Anderson Valley Appellation Pinot Noir combining two sites from the north western side of Anderson Valley. These two dynamic hillside vineyards with ocean floor based weathered sandstone and shale based soils are subject to daily winds and overnight fog, keeping temperatures moderated during the growing season. Our aim with this wine has always been to layer and elevate complexity and showcase this unique coastal valley. The nose is generous and pleasing with dark savory red fruit, coastal umami, black truffle and petrichor. The palate leads with dark red plums, trumpet mushrooms and fir tips. The acidity preserves the tautness and ensures a long persistent finish from the front to the back of the palate. A gorgeous vintage of this special cuvee. Pair with a Classic Cassoulet or Roasted Game Hen.
