2022 Village Chardonnay Paul Cluver

£16.50

“Tasted blind. Paler than most. Light but fresh nose and terribly introverted and tense. Definitely championing cool climate! Chablis style and very youthful. Admirably zesty with green-fruit flavours. Goes out on a limb but has some intensity and persistence. Arguably a little simple, but definitely a style to be emulated. Good green-fruit character.”

Product Description

The Cluver family bought the De Rust farm in 1896 to provide summer grazing for their livestock. In the mid 1900s it became a renowned apple-producing area and was subsequently identified as an ideal cool climate wine region. This in turn led to the establishment of the Paul Cluver wine estate, the first winery in Elgin, founded in 1986. Recognised as pioneers of wine in the area, the focus is on producing elegant wines that are expressive of the terroir.

This wine is a great expression Chardonnay, bursting with citrus and citrus blossom notes followed by aromas of white peach and complemented with a great fresh palate which is long and lingering.
