2023 Joseph Pascal Puligny-Montrachet

£62.00

“Pure, piercing limey-citrus. Moderate intensity – typical in this vintage – but direct and precise. Stony/mineral overlay to the fruit. Richer than I expected on the palate, all that lovely purity and freshness to a long finish.”

16.5/20 Julia Harding MW for Jancis Robinson MW

Product Description

It all started at the beginning of the 20th century, when Joseph PASCAL from Morvan arrived in the town of Puligny-Montrachet to cultivate the land there. From then on, he met his future wife Marie VOILLERY there and remained in Puligny-Montrachet.

They went on to have two children, René and Jean. The latter began as a jobber at Domaine LEFLAIVE before acquiring a few plots of vines in the early 1950s with his wife Cécile (originally from Volnay). In 1955, the wine was selling poorly, so they embarked on the manufacture of vine plants, to reach today, an annual production of 500,000 plants.

In 1975, Jean-Luc joined his parents, and together formed a company called SARL Domaine Jean PASCAL & Fils. Together they develop the Estate to reach 14 Hectares of vines, in ownership and sharecropping, spread over 4 municipalities (Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Auxey-Duresses and Volnay).

In the early 2000s, Yann (Jean Luc’s son) and his wife Alexandra arrived at the Domaine. To date, Yann takes care of the wine part while Alexandra takes care of the winemaking and the trade.

Since the 2021 vintage, the entire production has been sold under the Joseph Pascal name.
