2017 Château Puygueraud Côtes des Francs

£19.50

“This shows wonderful richness for the vintage with dried berries and figs, as well as plums and berries. Full-bodied and shows excellent structure. Extremely well done for the vintage and competes with the 2016.”

93 Points, James Suckling

One third of the normal harvest. 63% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec.
“Deepest crimson. Dark and savoury on the nose. Savoury, smooth and not in the least sweet -fruited but still with enough fruit. Firm and dry and lots of freshness.”

Product Description

In 1946, George and Monica Thienpont (owners of Vieux Château Certan), coming from their natal Flanders, moved into Puygueraud and restored the XVth Century chateau. Then after a long pause undertook the reconstruction of the vineyard.

In 1981, Nicolas Thienpont, with his father, engaged in the transition between a production oriented viticulture to one of excellence. Since 1983, the first vintage year mark, this approach has continued.

Since 2009, Nicolas and his son Cyrille Thienpont, have worked hand-in-hand for the crafting of this wine that over the last 30 years has become the flagship of the Francs Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation and a veritable jewel of Bordeaux.
