Product Description
The “Corton” are Grands Crus from the commune of Aloxe Corton – northern Côte de Beaune – and are located on the famous “Rognon de Corton”. More than half of the Aloxe Corton vineyard is planted with Grand Cru, which is exceptional in Burgundy. Exposure varies between the South and the Southwest.
Corton Grand Cru is a characterful, dense, and fleshy wine, similar in structure to the greatest red wines of the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard’s orientation allows for the production of a wine with smooth tannins and harmonious acidity. This Corton comes from a southeast-facing vineyard with siliceous soil. This “red” soil gives the wine both power and finesse.
Harvesting is done manually in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted by hand and destemmed. The grapes macerate in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are punched down twice a day during fermentation. Aging lasts approximately 18 months in estate cooperage barrels, about a third of which are new.
