“Half made in stainless steel and half in cask, it has elegant aromas of tangerine, ripe stone fruit, sage and acacia flower. It’s fairly full-bodied and textured, the richness well balanced by ripe acidity and a long, classy, stony finish. Elvio Cogno makes this 100% Nascetta from vines grown in the variety’s home village of Novello, within Barolo DOCG.”

“The 2023 Nascetta Del Comune Di Novello Anas-Cetta was aged in equal parts stainless steel and 15-hectoliter, untoasted Slavonian oak barrels, then blended prior to bottling. It boasts a bright yellow/straw color in the glass and is exuberant on the nose, with savory complexity and attractive notes of flinty reduction, white grapefruit, poached pear, beeswax, petrol, and wet stones. The acidity is modest but accented with white pepper spice and salinity that brings wonderful energy to the wine, along with a gentle glycerin-rich texture. It may well be the best expression of Nascetta that I have tasted from Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore, and it certainly has the potential to improve with aging.”

Product Description
The Cogno Winery produces the principle wines of the Langhe. The winery owns about fifteen hectares of vineyard property in Novello, one of eleven townships in the province of Cuneo in which Barolo DOCG production is allowed.
The hills are world-renowned for their history, culture, and beauty, and they were recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage.
In the footsteps of its founder Elvio Cogno, today Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore direct the winery with four generations of winemakers and vine growers, dedicated to obtaining excellence that begins with the unique terroir to create wines that are famous throughout the world for their elegance, texture, and balance.
With four Barolo labels and nine and a half hectares of vineyards in Ravera, Cogno is the most important producer of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MeGA) “Ravera.” Ravera is the most well-known cru, or zone of vineyards, of Novello. It is recognized for producing wines that are able to withstand time while maintaining their aromas and freshness intact.
Anas-Cëtta is an autochthonous historical variety specifically from Novello commune. Since the first limited production run in 1994, working with tenacity and love for the land of the Langhe, Cogno winery has used the memories of old-timers in Novello to produce a wine for the youngsters of the third millennium. Mentioned in winemaking documents as early as the second half of the 19th century, this white wine, probably of local origin, has a sapidity reminiscent of the great hot-clime varietals such as Vermentino.
Straw-yellow in color with golden highlights. The nose is fine and elegant with just the right intensity. It exudes complex, lingering scents of wild flowers and herbs, citrus and a hint of flint notes. The bouquet suggests acacia honey, grapefruit, sage and rosemary.
