2023 Estate Series Salta Torrontés, Bodega Colomé
£16.00
“Attractive tropical character here with mango, apricot, peach pit, honeysuckle and spice. Medium-bodied, textured and tense with vivid fruit character and a tannin presence. Very attractive.”
Established in 1831, Bodega Colomé is the oldest working winery in Argentina and home to one of the world’s highest commercial vineyards, ‘Altura Máxima’, planted at a staggering 3,111 metres above sea level. The combination of Bodega Colomé’s history, unique vineyard sites and winemaking talent, has ensured they are consistently classified as a ‘First Growth’ winery in Tim Atkin MW’s annual Argentina Report.
Torrontés is the signature white variety of Argentina and is a cross between Muscat of Alexandria and the Mission grape of Galicia. It thrives in Salta, where the high diurnal range preserves freshness and aromatic intensity. Bodega Colomé’s Torrontés is grown using the pergola system at very low yields to ensure good concentration of aromas and flavours.
