“Yields were ridiculously low on this Paardeberg Chenin Blanc, but the wine doesn’t seem over concentrated in the slightest. Very lightly wooded in concrete and 20% older barrels, it’s a subtle, salty, layered white, with layers of lemon, lime and wet stones, fine balance and a touch of flinty reduction.”

Chenin from two vineyards planted in 1966 (80%) and 1980 (20%), 2 km from each other, on decomposed granite. Very, very low yields. Fermented and aged in 20% 500-litre oak barrel and 80% concrete.
“Smells like apple mint and lemon verbena. And lemongrass. Salty! Tastes like pineapple pressed into sea glass into white wax. Vintage linen texture and just dancing with flowers and grass seeds and sedge and rush and like the thinnest slivers of citron and something samphire and maritime. Stunningly complex and thrilling.”

Product Description
Van Loggerenberg Wines is a family-run winery based in Paarl, making low-intervention, site-specific wines from vineyards mainly in the Stellenbosch and Swartland appellations.
Kameraderie is made with fruit from dryland bush vine grapes that were planted in 1966 and 1980 on decomposed granite vineyards on the western side of Paardeberg. These old vines have through the decades adapted to survive and produce unbelievable grapes in these tough growing conditions. These grapes were picked when optimally ripe and produced a wine that’s very true to its terroir.
