2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles-St-Jacques Domaine Humbert Frères

£99.00

“Black fruit – quite a bit more restrained than their Poissenot and Petite-Chapelle. Really well formed… one for the longer haul.”

17/20 Richard Hemming MW for Jancis Robinson MW

“(from 65-year-old vines): Bright, deep red. Medicinal black cherry and minerals on the reticent nose. Densely packed and youthfully imploded, showing little in the way of early sweetness. The pungent black cherry, blackberry and licorice flavors show terrific clarity and class but will require extended aging to blossom in bottle. The tannins spread out to saturate the entire palate on the long, perfumed, violet-tinged finish.”

Product Description

A very good vineyard, old vines and the detailed excellence of Manou and Frédéric have created a benchmark Gevrey. Black and redcurrants to the fore with a fruit sweetness on the palate, balanced with fine grippy tannin alongside density and precision, this is seamless in its presentation.
